Week long Culinary Program in Tuscany
Indulge in a complete cooking adventure at the cooking school
at La Torre, the historic castle located in Florence, Italy. The
week-long culinary adventure will help you explore the refined
tastes of Tuscany and its traditional techniques.
The classes will begin with an introductory session on the history
of Tuscan diet, their typical dishes, breads, seasonal foods and
those used by peasants, changes in Tuscan cuisine from the medieval
times till date. Enjoy each day by preparing a complete five course
meal that comprise pastas, soups, meat, fish and vegetables. Tuscan
cuisine is highly seasonal. The recipes may vary according to
the availability of the ingredients according to the season.
Schedules by Day
Saturday
The group of participants will arrive at La Torre post lunch.
Once they settle into their accommodation, they can explore the
estate after they refresh and relax for a while. The group can
enjoy a welcome dinner and also meet the hosts and chefs. The
dinner would have the seasonal and traditional Tuscan delights
accompanied by the estate’s wine. The participants will
receive a recipe book and instructions regarding the course.
Sunday
A tour to Southern Tuscany will be held that will help you to
discover the culture and history of the people there.
Highlights
*Visit medieval villages and castles
*Exciting drives via Chianti valleys, Sienese Crete, enticing
view of Val d’Orcia and Pieve of Sant’Anna
*Visit vineyards of noble families and taste wines, olive oil,
salami and cheese
*Mini lunch and trip to San Quirico and Bagno Vignoni
*Visit the village of Pieza and shop for handicrafts, local produce
*Visit to pecorina cheese making factory
*Apertivo at Montalcino
*Back to Florence
Monday
(Cooking day 1 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm)
The participants will prepare the lunch with the help of the
expert chefs of the cooking school, learning how to make each
recipe in the process. After lunch they are free to relax or can
choose an additional tour/activity mentioned in the Additional
Activities.
Tuesday
(Cooking day 2 from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm)
The second day’s cooking class will end with the lunch
prepared by the participants. They can either relax or opt for
one of the Additional Activities in the program. The additional
program has to be paid separately.
Tour - Chianti and San Gimignano
*Drive through the picturesque Chianti region and villages
*Visit the ancient Abbey, vineyards
*Wine tasting in the estate
*Hear a butcher reciting ‘Dante’
*Spectacular view of San Gimignano
*Enjoy dinner at a pizzeria
Wednesday
Trip to Mercato Centrale at 10.00 am followed by lunch and other
places in Florence.
*Visit to multilevel marketplace abundant with fresh local produce
*Lunch with local Florentines
*Shopping in leather markets
*Taste world famous gelato, walk along the stone streets
*Dinner with hosts at a historical restaurant of Florence
If you wish to stay in town for dinner we can also book restaurants
of your choice
Thursday
(Cooking day 3 from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm)
The participants will prepare an elaborate lunch, and in the
meanwhile learn a lot of techniques applied in preparing them.
They can be free in the afternoon or may opt for an additional
seasonal activity like the Truffle Hunting that is offered in
the Additional Activities Program.
Friday
(Cooking day 4 and an excursion)
*Visit to centuries old Ceramics factory
*Spectacular display of handicraft items, meet skilled craftsmen
*Visit to the historically significant Medici Villa
*Lunch at Artimino village
* Cooking session begins at 4.00 pm
* Dinner 8.00 pm
The participants will prepare a farewell dinner for the entire
group in this session. They will also learn to make an excellent
‘appertivo’ presentation The class will end with the
distribution of ‘Certificate of Attendance’ to all
the participants.
Participation Fee
Participants to the cooking class will have to pay € 2195*
that will include accommodation, both welcome and farewell dinners
at La Torre, trip to Florence, Southern Tuscany tour and breakfast,
wine tasting, lunch, pizza dinner, mini lunch, cooking lessons,
buffet breakfast on the final day, an apron, a recipe book and
all taxes.
*This is for double occupancy. Single supplements are charged
€ 300 extra per week.*
Non-participation Fee
Non-participants will have to pay € 1795** that will include
both welcome and farewell dinners, Florence central market trip
and lunch, Southern Tuscany Tour and breakfast, wine tasting,
lunch, pizza dinner, visit to local market, mini lunch at Artimino,
buffet breakfast on final day and all taxes.
**This is for double occupancy. Single supplements are charged
€ 300 extra per week.**
These are NOT included for participants/non-participants:
Additional meals, optional day tours, transportation, renting
cars, other trips, groceries for private needs, rentals for cell
phones, additional cleaning and maid services, buying wine and
olive oil from estate

who are interested in extending their stay in Italy
